Remove the cap or trim

Remember to replace the cartridge only if it is damaged or corroded.

Use an Allen wrench

Using an Allen wrench, loosen the retaining nut on the cartridge. Then, unscrew the cap and faucet handle. Carefully pull up on the handles and then lift the faucet cartridge. If the handles are working, you may need to remove the retaining nut or cartridge.

If you are unsure of how to remove the retaining nut, you can simply use a small Phillips or Allen wrench to remove the retaining nut. If you have trouble removing the retaining nut, you can also use a hex key or pipe wrench to free the retaining nut. If the nut is broken or damaged, you should replace the faucet cartridge. Remove the decorative faucet handle

To remove the retaining nut on a faucet, use an Allen wrench or a small flathead screwdriver. You may also need to remove the decorative faucet handle if the faucet has two handles. If this happens, you'll need to replace both the cold and hot water cartridges. If the retaining nut is causing the leak, remove it using a wrench or tongue-and-groove pliers.

Next, remove the decorative faucet cap. You'll need an Allen wrench or small flathead screwdriver to remove the cartridge. You may also need a nut wrench or tongue-and-groove pliers to remove the cartridge retaining nut. After removing the cap, push the faucet handle all the way down to the cartridge. Find out the model number

Before you begin the process of unclogging a faucet cartridge, you'll need to find out the model number. If you have a two-handle faucet, you may need to unscrew the bonnet nut. Then, use a toothbrush to scrub the inside of the faucet. Then, pour a solution of white vinegar and water into the body. After a few minutes, turn on the faucet to drain the lines.
